What to expect - Our Services at AccuCare Center

What to expect:
Your first visit will be approximately 1 hour in length. You will be given an initial evaluation for range of motion, swelling, sensation, muscle strength, reflexes and other special testing specific to your diagnosis.

A plan of care is outlined showing our findings along with a course of treatment and a timeline for recovery.

During your first visit, treatment will be initiated and you will receive a home exercise program to get you on a program of recovery.

When you are discharged you will have a home exercise program to continue to work on daily. We will be available for any questions you might have.

We offer a variety of interactive programs including Physical Therapy.

Work Hardening:
This is a structure and goal oriented treatment program designed to return a person to a specific job. Simulated work activities are designed to restore physical, behavioral and vocational function. It also addresses issues of productivity, safety, physical tolerances and worker behaviors. This program is typically 5 days a week with the patient starting at two hours a day and progressing up to six hours a day. The patient works on range of motion, overall body strength, endurance, and position tolerance. A customized program is developed by the therapist to fit the patient's job description.

Work Conditioning:
The goal is to get the patient to their highest level of function for employment.

This is a work-related, intensive, goal oriented treatment program specifically designed to restore your neuromusculoskeletal and cardiopulmonary functions. The objective is to restore the patient's general physical capacity and function so the client can return to a non-specific job.

Functional Capacity Evaluation

AccuCare's licensed physical therapists are trained and certified to perform the Ergo Science Physical Work Performance Evaluation (PWPE). The PWPE is a highly structured test designed to report the level of work a patient is able to perform at that given time. The PWPE can test for maximum objective strength without risk for further injury. This enables the therapist to objectively assess a patient's current level of function. The PWPE is the only FCE that meets the 1993 Supreme Court's standards and cannot be throw out of court under Doubart vs Merrell Dow.

The PWPE is a one day 4 hour test with the finding reported to the patient's doctor and/or case manager within 4 business days.
